Technical writer by day, engineer by night, and father everywhere in between, Manny Silva wears many (figurative) hats. Manny is passionate about intuitive and scalable developer experiences, and likes diving into the deep end as the 0th user.
While doing technical writing at Apple, Google, and Skyflow, Manny was confounded by how known-good docs could go out-of-date without changing—when the associated product changed its UX or behavior. Engineers had their unit testing, integration testing, and end-to-end testing, but there were no equivalent tools available for docs.
So Manny fixed that. He created Doc Detective, a tool that validates documentation procedures by performing those procedures against the product, but he realized that it was part of something bigger. That something is Docs as Tests—a tool-agnostic strategy for validating your content against your product.
Docs as Tests, a forthcoming book by Manny Silva, offers a pioneering strategy to keep your documentation in sync with rapid product changes through automated validation. Click here to read more about Docs as Tests.
